Daydream is an original 2026 sculpture by New Zealand artist John Allen, made from pōhutukawa roots reclaimed from fallen trees in the Auckland region.
Quietly expressive, and huggable cute, Daydream invites the heart to warm and the mind to wander, bringing a gentle sense of contentment and stillness into its surroundings.
The pōhutukawa roots’ natural grain, contours and character remain at the heart of the work. An oil-and-wax finish deepens the timber’s colour and texture while preserving its distinctly organic presence.
