Pohutukawa is a tree that knows how to hold on — to clifftops, to coastlines, to the very edge of the land. Navigator 5 captures that tenacity in sculptural form, shaped from the roots of fallen Pohutukawa trees gathered from the Auckland region.

Each root carries the memory of its environment: the push and pull of growth, the weight of years, the texture of earth and salt air. Finished in oil and wax, the wood is brought to life — its natural contours deepened, its surface warm and enduring.
